History: Helpful wiki link!
Personality:Jan is a tiger boy! At least, that’s what he’ll tell you when he first introduces himself. He was raised in the jungle by tigers, and as such, his manners leave a bit to be desired. His upbringing didn’t leave him feral and wild—instead, it left him with behavior patterns that are very childlike. He has no compunctions about running around in the nude, and personal space seems to be a bit of a foreign concept to him at times. If he sees something that interests him, he’ll grab it and pitch a fit if he’s not allowed to touch or smell. You don’t want to be bringing him into a museum—unless it’s one of those children’s museums where you’re supposed to touch everything.
Dealing with Jan is like dealing with a rowdy five-year-old much of the time. In one instance, he’s actually regressed in age to a small child, and his behavior doesn’t really change in the least. (He is also an absolute nightmare for the teammate that got stuck playing the role of his babysitter.) The biggest change is that more random bystanders seem worried about his behavior, given that five-year-olds aren’t supposed to do things like climb buildings or run around unattended. If Jan is not happy, it’s not at all unusual for him to throw a tantrum like a child. He’ll fling himself down on the ground, beat things with his fists, and moan and carry on until he’s convinced to settle down or until he’s been distracted with something else. His immaturity extends to his sense of humor as well. Jokes about pee are, after all, the absolute highest form of comedy. He has a dance to accompany this.
When talking to Jan, one might notice that his speech patterns are a little odd. He frequently peppers his speech with onomatopoeia or made-up words that have their roots in Japanese onomatopoeia. Those that spend a lot of time around Jan have learned to roll with this and can generally understand him without too much worry, but newcomers will often ask him what he means. He’s not always the best at explaining things, either, since he tends to put things in rather simple terms.
Jan reacts rather well to strange sights that might make an ordinary person stop and question their sanity. When he first meets Master Shafu, who is a giant bipedal talking cat, his immediate reaction is essentially to yell “Kitty!” and then rush over to give Shafu chin scratches. Shafu might be a wizened old respectable Geki Jyu Ken master and this behavior may alarm everyone else involved, but that doesn’t matter to Jan one bit. In Jan’s eyes, anything is possible, and he’s not at all likely to balk at new experiences.
Jan loves animals. They’re his buddies! He’s first introduced while horseplaying with some panda friends of his, and he was raised by tigers. Any time he meets a new Kensei (who are all humanoid talking animals), he gets all excited upon realizing what sort of animal he’s talking to. When it comes to other, “normal” animals, he’s just as attentive and excited. If there’s a small wounded animal in the area, he’ll find it and take care of it. It’s one way he’ll actually get serious about something. Tigers are especially important to him; they raised him, there’s somewhat of a familial association there, and they’re strong, as he puts it, “to protect the forest.” He wants to be tiger-like so he can protect things.
The three main Gekirangers fill three roles—Heart, Technique, and Power. Jan provides the Power aspect of the group. He’s stubborn, and he’s very likely to plow on through a situation despite what anyone else says or thinks he might be able to do. In one instance, this led to his attracting the attention of one particular Kensei, Sharkie Chan, becoming that Kensei’s first student. Considering that he was the last of the three Gekirangers to attract the attention of a new master, Jan was elated, and Sharkie was just as happy.
Through a long and drawn out misunderstanding that involved evil possession by a Rin Jyu Ken user, the other Kensei came to the conclusion that Sharkie had turned bad. Jan was the only one who still believed in Sharkie, and he set himself up to take care of the real culprit. In the course of doing this, he got possessed himself—and was the only one strong enough to outright not allow his body to be used in possession. It was an outright act of force of body and mind, not some fancy trickery that allowed him to do it. He can and will steamroller over anything that threatens harm to others.
Jan isn’t incredibly prideful or obnoxious about his strength, either. He’s most likely to bring it up when it’s appropriate, or when he’s comparing his Power to Retsu’s Technique and Ran’s Heart. He definitely isn’t the sort to go around bragging or boasting in a condescending manner. He might get a little excited over things and want to show off, though it’s not meant to be malicious in a way that would make someone else feel bad—he just wants to share.
Jan does not tolerate evil--especially when it comes to hurting others--well at all. You want to make Jan angry? Hurt some innocent bystander, or worse, someone he knows and cares about. He was the only one of the Gekirangers to show some signs of being on the verge of attaining KaGeki on his own thanks to his determination to protect people. In that battle, he was already badly wounded, but he kept getting up to try again and again to fight. Everyone else called for him to stop, but he refused to back down until he was finally rendered unconscious. Even then, as soon as he was conscious again, he wanted to go finish what he'd started. He doesn't place great emphasis on his own personal safety, and he's very loyal. In a dangerous situation, he would absolutely refuse to leave a friend behind.
Strengths: Jan is a remarkably strong individual, both physically and mentally. He is part of a Geki Jyuken triangle with Ran and Retsu, the other two Gekirangers. Each of the three has a particular specialty and role in the triangle, and Jan's is power. He's the one they send out if they need something smashed or hit particularly hard. He has repeatedly been shown to keep getting up after getting beaten, especially if his friends are depending on him or innocent people need to be protected. He won't back down if it comes down to protecting people.
Thanks to practicing Geki Jyuken and working on mastering his beast heart, he wouldn't be quite as disoriented by suddenly walking on four legs as a normal human. Geki Jyuken also means that he's very good at taking care of things in a fight. Jan has been trained in the Tiger Fist school of Geki Jyuken, meaning that he will try to fight like a tiger. He's still got his Gekiranger powers, and a full rundown of those abilities may be found here. The only special equipment he would have on him would be his Gekichangers, which would allow him to become GekiRed and summon the Geki Nunchuks, Geki Sabers, and his Geki Claw. He would also be able to summon GekiTiger, GekiGorilla, and GekiShark (and I'm fine with nerfing their size/power if necessary). Jan is also capable of using KaGeki, which increases his power and allows him to become Super GekiRed through using the Geki Claw.
Weaknesses: Jan can be rather simple-minded. His behavior is often similar to that of a small child, and it's not at all uncommon for him to display a complete and total lack of caution. if he sees something he's interested in, he's grabbing it. He also occasionally has issues dealing with his actions having actual consequences. He can be very impatient, and he's not good at tasks that require a high degree of concentration.
He can also be a very ineffective communicator. Thanks to his upbringing and not being around humans very much at a young age, his vocabulary is peppered with childish made-up words. They make perfect sense to him and can be made sense of if you spend enough time around him, but if you're only meeting the guy for the first time? That can be a problem.
Pony/Animal Type: Jan will be an Earth pony, as it plays more to his physical strength.
Cutie Mark: Jan's Cutie Mark is a happy-looking cartoon tiger, symbolizing his connection to tigers as well as his general cheerful outlook on things.

SAMPLES
First Person:
[The video feed opens to show a grinning Jan standing in front of what looks like a very crude effigy of a panda. It's made of hay and looks kind of like it was constructed by an eight-year-old. Jan has a couple of large streaks of paint smeared across his nose.]
Hey! Hey! Even though it's kind of byunbyun that we're all here like this, we shouldn't be mohemohe! We can still do the same sorts of things we did back home!
[And now he's beaming and moving to show off his creation.]
See? I made a training dummy! I'm going to continue to practice my Geki Jyuken, no matter what!
[Have a bit of a pony kung-fu demonstration, which ends with Jan chewing on the dummy. Maybe a pony using hay for this sort of thing wasn't the best idea...or maybe Jan's just being Jan.]
Third Person:
At first, Jan had been downright alarmed to find himself transformed into a pony. He hadn't been using any forbidden techniques! And even if he had, he would have turned into a tiger! He wasn't a Pony-ken user! Something was, in his words, jitajita.
But he'd calmed down quickly enough once he realized he wasn't the only one. And he still had his Gekichangers, which was something, even if hooves made them a little bit harder to use. It was all good; he still had use of his mouth, after all.
Best of all, there was a new forest to explore! Of course, all the locals said going into the Everfree Forest alone was a bad idea, but Jan didn't care. He knew forests! As he explored, he felt pretty much at home. He couldn't leap through the trees as well as he might have as a human, since ponies weren't a brachiating species, but the atmosphere alone was enough to relax him. At least, it relaxed him up until the point he started smelling something very odd. His pony nostrils flared, and he stopped in his tracks as he tried to pinpoint the source of the smell. "Zowazowa!"
He kept on walking, albeit at a much slower pace. Something was there, and he knew it. His ears twitched as he picked up on the faint sound of growling, and he was ready as a growling Timberwolf suddenly leaped out from the underbrush. "Zowazowa!" Good thing his Gekichangers were still functional. There's now a helmeted, spandex-clad pony fighting that Timberwolf, and he's doing very well for himself.
